These are painted and assembled 1/1250 scale resin models of Fort Hoo and Fort Darnet, a pair of C19th forts on sandbanks on opposite sides of the shipping channel on the river Medway. The forts were built in the late 1860s to protect the navy dockyard at Chatham from attack from the sea. Originally, the intention was to stretch a chain across the channel between the forts to hold attacking sailing ships in the killing zone between the two artillery forts but, by the time that they were completed, steam-powered ironclad ships would have snapped any chain that could have been placed across the river and no chain was supplied. Casemates were fitted all round the circular forts and both forts commanded excellent fields of fire up and down stream and across the shipping channel.

A 1/1250 scale waterline resin model of one of the larger U-boat bunkers, The bunker at Brest. It was hit by 6 tallboy bombs during WW2 but only two penetrated the roof and exploded inside but not below ground. The structure survived and the roof was strengthened and fitted with steel re-enforced rails designed to deflect and de-cap bombs but the work was not completed before the bunker was evacuated. The model represents the condition of the bunker in 1944.

Built in 1929 to service the ocean liners at Southampton, Calshot is modelled here as she appeared during WW2 as a tender to the trooping Queens Mary & Elizabeth on the Clyde. Originally, Calshot had been sent north to meet HMS Prince of Wales on her return from taking Winston Churchill to meet President Roosevelt but the Prime Minister preferred to return to the UK by air and hitched a lift on a seaplane rather than be collected by Calshot from the battleship and being taken to Glasgow to get to London by train! Prince of Wales returned from Canada directly to Scapa Flow.
