Coastlines 1/1250 CL-HM-A12 Cordouan Lighthouse, the oldest operational lighthouse in France
A 1/1250 scale model of the Cordouan Lighthouse located on a sandbank in the middle of the Gironde Estuary by Coastlines models, CL-HM-A12. This tower was begun in the 16th century but its present form and lantern dates from the early 19th century. Although it contains Royal Apartments, there is no record of any King of France ever visiting this lighthouse!
The lighthouse is now automated. Boats still take sightseers to the sandbank at low tide to visit the lighthouse but you have to take your own picnic because there are no meals available on this desert island.
