Coastlines 1/1250 CL-SA14 Amoco Cadiz shipwreck, 1978
Amoco Cadiz is a 1/1250 scale, waterline model of the bow & stern sections of the ship aground off the Britanny coast by Coastlines Models CL-SA14. This ship was one of a class of four VLCC tankers built in Spain, another sister came to grief off Genoa 21 years later (see M T Haven, CL-SA13).
Amoco Cadiz was a larger ship than the Torrey Canyon, the effects of the oil spill were even more devastating to the local economy and it is still one of the ten largest oil spills in history. The broken anchor of the Amoco Cadiz is mounted on the quayside of the former fishing port nearest the wreck site.
