Corgi 1/76 Metro Bus Single Door CMB 45107
China Motor Bus Company Ltd often abbreviated as CMB was the first motor bus company in Hong Kong, and was responsible for the introduction of double decker buses to Hong Kong Island.
In September 1978, 10 MCs were allocated to two new coach routes introduced between the Central district and the more affluent residential areas of Stanley and Chung Hom Kok. No standing was allowed, thus avoiding overcrowding. These vehicles continued to serve on these two coach routes until they were relieved by single-deck air-conditioned Dennis Darts in late 1991, when they were re-allocated as buses to operate on route 13, on the mid-levels of Hong Kong Island. The MCs contributed significantly to CMB's order for the very high capacity buses, forty 11 metre two-axle MB class vehicles and eighty-four 12 metre three-axle ML class vehicles in the following years. When CMB lost its franchise of Hong Kong Island, and cross-harbour tunnel routes in 1998, all 12 MCs, among others in the fleet, were sold to New World First Bus. In an attempt to convert the whole New World First Bus fleet to air-conditioned vehicles, the MCs were withdrawn from passenger service in 1999 and two of them were converted to training vehicles, to assist in the massive recruitment programme.

Corgi 1/76 Bristol Lodekka, West Yorkshire, 36 Leeds dual destination OM40819B
The West Yorkshire Road Car Company existed from 1927, having previously been The Harrogate Road Car Company and The Harrogate & District Road Car Company. Operation of the former municipal services at Keighley and York, under joint agreements in which the Company provided the vehicles, were an interesting feature of the company from the early thirties. In 1951, following its display at the Festival of Britain Exhibition, West Yorkshire took delivery of the second prototype Lodekka (chassis no. LDX002), as its fleet number 822, renumbered DX1 under the April 1954 scheme, it was registered JWY 712 and operated in the Harrogate area. It lacked the distinctively stylish fairing of the production models.

Corgi 1/76 AEC Regent V/Roe, Hartlepool Corporation, Destination B OM41416B
The Hartlepool Corporation began serving the two boroughs of Hartlepool and West Hartlepool in 1952. The Corporation’s licence required them to provide half the buses needed to operate the service between the two towns. This presented a problem, since the Corporation did not own any buses! An agreement was reached with Bee Line Roadways, a local coach operator which ran the service on the Corporation’s behalf and garaged their fleet from August 1953. By 1956 this fleet was ageing and was replaced by four AEC Regent Vs as seen here. The Hartlepool Corporation’s fourteen year existence was brought to an end in 1967 when the bus fleets of the two boroughs were merged.

By 1938, the tram era in Ashton-under-Lyne was over. After the Second World War, the Ashton Corporation took its first delivery of six Crossley DD42/3s which replaced earlier Crossley vehicles purchased in the mid-1930s. In November 1954, the familiar peacock blue and cream livery was introduced. Over the following years, bus routes came and went and in January 1967 the last new bus route to be opened by Ashton Corporation was to the new housing estate at Gambrel Bank. Two years later in November 1969 the South East Lancashire and North East Cheshire Passenger Transport Executive was formed. This swallowed up the Ashton Corporation, and the peacock blue and cream buses gradually disappeared, bringing to an end a total of 67 years of Ashton Corporation Transport.

Nearly sixty years ago, the first of what eventually turned out to be around three hundred very different buses took to the road. Seating sixty-nine on thirty feet of bus, the ‘Queen Mary’s’ were large machines, considerably larger than anything Sussex had seen before – contrasting the familiar red and cream buses of Brighton Corporation Transport and Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company. The last of these green and cream machines entered service in 1967 and were worthy successors to Southdown’s existing double deckers.

Corgi 1/76 Routemaster, Blackpool Transport, 12 St Annes dual destination OM46306B
Toward the end of 1985 Blackpool Transport surprised many by announcing the trial of a London Transport AEC Routemaster as part of its post deregulation strategy.  Blackpool's actions mimicked that of Clydeside Scottish who had tried and tested a Routemaster in 1985 prior to introducing a large fleet for service in Glasgow ahead of deregulation.  A similar strategy was implemented by sister business Kelvin Scottish and Stagecoach and therefore implied a popular tactic.
RM1583 entered service on routes 5 and 5A (Halfway House to Grange Park) and was allocated number 500 which was reserved for demonstrators.  It impressed accordingly and a first batch of six was purchased and allocated number 521.  A repaint into the 1930s lined red and white livery was adopted rather than the standard green and off white livery.
The 5/5A was the Routemaster's prime home, but they also ran on other crew routes – 15 (Blackpool-Fleetwood) and 22/22A (Cleveleys-Halfway House and Lytham).  Deregulation in 1986 saw the 5/5A withdrawn so the Routemasters were reallocated to route 12 (Blackpool to Airport).
By 1988 the Routemaster fleet doubled as Blackpool Transport responded to the introduction of a Promenade bus service with its own route.  Six more Routemasters were purchased and arrived in pairs.  With just six weeks to prepare the buses they were treated to a simplified version of the red and white livery.  The new service launched on Saturday 28th May and the six buses debuted with promotional adverts for in house 'Travelcard' which were carried until replaced by Opal Fruits in 1993.
