Peco OO9 GR-620A Festiniog Railway Bowside Bogie Composite Coach 19 Lined Purple-Brown
Detailed model of Festiniog Railway bowside bogie composite coach 19 finished in the Victorian era purple-brown livery.
This coach was built by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company in 1879 utilising a wrought iron frame carrying a conventionally coach-built body to the bowside design first built for the Festiniog line by Brown Marshalls &Co three years earlier. Among the earliest bogie passenger coaches in Britain the Festiniog 'bowsiders' are still in service today, having been restored as part of the Festiniog Railway heritage train.
The Festiniog Railway was one of the first railways in the world to introduce bogie coaches. It is therefore very fitting that Peco should choose to model these ground-breaking vehicles along with the Festiniog Railway England (Kato) and Double Fairlie (Bachmann) locomotives.
