Peco OO9 GR-600A Festiniog Railway Bowside Bogie Composite Coach 17 Lined Purple-Brown & Cream
Detailed model of Festiniog Railway bowside bogie composite coach 17 finished in the Victorian era purple-brown livery.
This coach was built by Brown Marshalls & Company of Birmingham in 1876 to the design of George Spooner utilising a wrought iron frame carrying a conventionally coach-built body. The curved bowside design presenting a more aesthetically pleasing profile than the utilitarian look of the earlier 'slab-sided' bogie coaches.
Among the earliest bogie passenger coaches in Britain the Festiniog 'bowsiders' are still in service today, having been restored as part of the Festiniog Railway heritage train.
The Festiniog Railway was one of the first railways in the world to introduce bogie coaches. It is therefore very fitting that Peco should choose to model these ground-breaking vehicles along with the Festiniog Railway England (Kato) and Double Fairlie (Bachmann) locomotives.
