Peco OO9 GR-557A Festiniog Railway Third Class 4 wheel Bug Box Coach 3 Col.Stephens Green
Detailed model of Festiniog Railway 'Bug Box' enclosed third class coach number 3 as running during the Colonel Stephens management era finished in plain green livery.
These small 4-wheel coaches are typical of early Victorian era design with the wheels hidden behind the internal seating to maintain a low centre of gravity.
These coaches were designed to have a low centre of gravity due to concerns over the stability of narrow gauge trains which were later proved to be unfounded, though the coaches remained in service to be preserved as a vintage train. The wheels are concealed completely by the low-set body with passengers seated back-to-back, the seats themselves sitting on the box enclosing the wheels, axles and axleboxes.
