Highly detailed model of the APT-E experimental Advanced Passenger Train test train from the early 1970s.
This 4-car test train was powered by gas turbines and incorporated a number of features being developed for the proposed next generation of British express passenger trains. Test runs were operated on the Great Western mainline between 1973 and 1975, with the experimental train being sent to the NRM at York for preservation in 1976.
