Other Countries
Astro-Hungarian & South American nations.
In 1914 the German Federation was allied with the Astro-Hungarian empire, while most other European nations sided with the Triple Entente of Britain, France and Russia. A number of nations outside of Europe contributed in other ways, such as Brazil whose naval forces patrolled the South Atlantic for the Entente following the torpedoing of Brazilian merchant ships by German submarines and Japan who, allied with Britain and despite their recent disagreements with the Russians, sent warships to patrol the Mediterranean.
