The railway companies usually provided covered facilities for the storage and loading of goods at their stations. Usually a secure goods shed was built over one track, so wagons could be shunted inside for loading and unloading. A short platform usually extended outside for transshipping goods between rail and road vehicles and an office attached for bookkeeping. It was important to know the weight of each load, so a weighbridge and office hut was usually installed near the entrance gate so road vehicles could be weight loaded and empty, the cargo weight being recorded and billed.Goods shed footprint 102mm x 62mm, height 63mm, plus attached office 35mm x 28mm and loading ramp 99mm x 27mm. Usually a secure goods shed was built over one track, so wagons could be shunted inside for loading and unloading. A short platform usually extended outside for transshipping goods between rail and road vehicles and an office attached for bookkeeping. It was important to know the weight of each load, so a weighbridge and office hut was usually installed near the entrance gate so road vehicles could be weight loaded and empty, the cargo weight being recorded and billed.
