Metcalfe N PN912 Country Goods Shed Printed Card Construction Kit
The railway companies usually provided covered facilities for the storage and loading of goods at their stations. Usually a secure goods shed was built over one track, so wagons could be shunted inside for loading and unloading. A short platform usually extended outside for transshipping goods between rail and road vehicles and an office attached for bookkeeping. It was important to know the weight of each load, so a weighbridge and office hut was usually installed near the entrance gate so road vehicles could be weight loaded and empty, the cargo weight being recorded and billed.
Goods shed footprint 102mm x 62mm, height 63mm, plus attached office 35mm x 28mm and loading ramp 99mm x 27mm. Weighbridge office 32mm x 25mm with weighbridge table 40mm x 18mm.
