WDS 1/1250 WDS K Liz 0044cT HMS Grenville U-class Destroyer Leader in 1943 camouflage
HMS Grenville is a 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of the U-class Leader in 1943. The model is made and painted by WDS, catalogue number WDS K Liz 0044cT
HMS Grenville was the first of the U-class destroyers to complete and she was fitted as the class leader. This class all carried lattice masts from new with the exception of HMS Grenville and while waiting for a flotilla to be completed, she was painted in the Western Approaches camouflage pattern but using darker colours, as modelled here. In 1944 the U-class were sent to the Pacific via the Mediterranean and Grenville was given a lattice mast before this deployment and the pattern on the hull and superstructure was changed at that time.
Grenville survived the war and remained in service with the Royal Navy into the 1960s
