Solent Models 1/1250 SOM 21a (CL) Glamis MOWT coaster in 1944
A 1/1250 scale waterline model of the coaster Glamis in 1944 when delivering fuel to France & Belgium from D-Day until the end of WW2. This model has been produced as a result of co-operation between Rhenania Junior, Solent Models and Coastlines models during the Covid 19 lockdown.
Glamis was chartered by HM Government to deliver military supplies to front line troops on D-Day and beyond. The supplies were mostly cased fuel and Glamis was small enough to travel up the canals of Europe to drop off supplies close to the fighting. For instance, she was one of the first ships to enter the Caen canal as part of a small convoy with cased fuel loaded at Poole.
