Solent Models 1/1250 SOM 04 De Soto C2-S-E1 freighter 1940s-1973

A 1/1250 scale metal model of the US freighter De Soto. The De Soto was built as a C2-S-E1 fast (16kt) freighter by Gulf Shipbuilding Corporation, Chickasaw Alabama in 1944. After the end of WW2, she was bought by Waterman Co, one of 40 similar company vessels that only differed in detail. De Soto operated from the Gulf to ports in Northern Europe, including the UK.
