Originally produced under the Cooper Craft brand this kit has been taken into the Slaters range and is now supplied with Slaters wheels, bearings and turned steel buffers.
The GWR built only one type of 7 plank open merchandise wagon, diagram O2 introduced in 1905 and its almost identical vacuum brake fitted sister type on diagram O10 totally 1,550 wagons. All following open merchandise wagons were of the 5 plank type (sometimes with 5 1/2 or 6 planks when only narrow planks were available), though with slightly taller sides than the 1902 diagram O4. Although the )2 and O10 wagons had long working lives it seems likely that the larger volume of the 7 plank wagon with a sheet rail was of limited value for merchandise service, a covered box van could be used and charged at a higher rate.
To model the vacuum fitted O10 wagons Peco pack RO-6 will provide the brake cylinder, pipes and parts to model the later Dean-Churchward spring applied brake arrangements.
