Secondhand Mini-ships 1/1200 Superior 206G Lutzow German heavy cruiser 1940-45
A 1/1200 scale second-hand metal model of Lutzow from 1940-44. Superior model 206G. This model is in very good condition, see photograph. The provenance of this model leads us to believe that it was probably cast under licence in the UK by Clydeside and painted by the previous owner in light grey with wood effect painted decks.
Lutzow was the former armoured ship, Deutschland often called "Pocket Battleships" by the Allies. She was re-named after the loss of the Graf Spee following the Battle of the River Plate because of the effect on morale in Germany if the ship bearing the name of the homeland were to be lost in battle but also, according to official papers, to disguise the sale of the 8" gunned heavy cruiser Lutzow to Germany's ally The Soviet Union.
