Konishi models are made in Osaka, Japan and they are cast in different metals to those used in European countries. The hulls are usually made in a zinc alloy and the superstructures are typically made from brass. The models are harder and more resistant to minor knocks and chips than those made in white metal and lead free pewter but the castings are very sharp and are highly detailed. Almost all models available in the UK have been privately imported and the level of craftsmanship means that Konishi models command a very high price.
