Japanese to WW2

The Imperial Japanese Navy. The other Royal Navy and like Great Britain an island nation, Japan had fought naval actions against the Russians and alongside the Western allies in WW1. Modern well-equipped ships supported the worlds mightiest battleships and carriers by the late 1930s, but the island could not match the resources of the United States.
A 1/1200 scale second-hand waterline wooden model of a Japanese heavy cruiser of the Atago Takao type. The model is in good condition and has a printed paper label underneath with the name written on in indian ink.

A 1/1250 scale secondhand model of Ryujo the Japanese light carrier of 1941 by Neptun 1216.

Having converted Battleships and Battlecruisers to Aircraft Carriers under the Washington Treaty, most navies found themselves short of tonnage under the limits of the Treaty to build more Fleet Carriers. This was Japan's solution and it was not a success. Ryujo was sunk in the battle of the Eastern Solomans in August 1942.
