Rhenania 1/1250 GLR7a SS Shieldhall, ex-Glasgow Corporation Passenger & Sludge Carrier, 2002
A 1/1250 scale metal model of Shieldhall, the former Glasgow sludge carrier. This GLR model is finely modelled by HB in Germany for Rhenania. Shieldhall is now a museum ship in Southampton that is operated entirely by steam and still taking the public to sea.on pre-arranged day trips.
Shieldhall is preserved and open to the public. She was unusual in that she was fitted with a passenger saloon when built to take the public and schoolchildren on trips out to sea whilst she was dumping Glasgow's sewage. She was retired from service when the EU banned the practice of dumping at sea.
