In need of wagons for coal traffic in 1911 the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway began ordering standard RCH 1907 design 12 Ton wagons. Wagon builders Hurst Nelson of Motherwell added 225 wagons for the LBSCR to a batch already ordered by the SECR, using the same drawings as approved by the SECR. The LBSCR regarded these as a non-standard wagon, ordering parts for them from the builders only a year after delivery instead of producing parts in their own wagon works.
Despite being the same design and builder as the SECR wagons the Southern issued a different diagram number for the LBSCR wagons, allocating diagram 1373. These wagons carried both styles of SR goods livery prior to withdrawal. It is believed a very small number survived into the BR-era but, as for the SECR RCH 1907 wagons, no evidence of them carrying BR livery has ever been found.
