D5713 was delivered in March 1959, entering service from Derby and sent to the former Midland Railway London depot of Cricklewood in January 1960. Following rebuilding the locomotive was transferred to Barrow in Furness in February 1962, before re-allocation to Carlisle Upperby in December 1966, from where the locomotive was withdrawn at the end of 1967.
