Built in 1952 Hunslet works number 3715 was supplied to the National Coal Board for service at Peckfield Colliery, Micklefield. Purchased for preservation Primrose No.2 moved to the Embsay & Bolton Steam Railway in 1976 and was one of the main engines in service on the line for many years. Overhauled 1984-1989 Primrose was withdrawn for overhaul again in 1999, when a serious and unrepairable crack was found in the firebox.
Stored for several years the boiler was sent away for repair, returning in 2008 while work on the chassis progresses at Embsay.
