Peco N NR-66 Bulk Grain Wagon BR Brown
Block trains carrying specialised loads are a feature of the modern railway. All Peco wagons feature free running wheels in pin point axles. The ELC coupling, whilst compatible with the standard N gauge couplings, keeps a realistic distance between vehicles and enables the PL-25 electro magnetic decoupler to be used for remote uncoupling.
These grain wagons were among the earliest 'modern' goods wagons on British Railways, with a chassis suitable for running at higher speeds, a larger load capacity than the traditional grain wagons built in the 1950s and fitted with vacuum train brakes. Many were leased to Scottish whiskey manufacturers and painted in a blue livery with brand advertising on the sides. Later many were used in general grain traffic and for other bulk power traffic including alumina.
