This Parkside open wagon kit contains the parts needed to build wither the unfitted diagram O32 5 plank open wagons, with 11,755 constructed between 1933 and 1940, or the vacuum fitted version, diagram O33 comprising 1048 wagons. The vacuum fitted wagons were usually equipped with a sheet support rail, the parts for which are included.

Diagram O32 was by far the most numerous design of GWR 5 plank open wagon built between grouping and nationalisation. The later GWR open wagons are more difficult to model from one kit as, particularly during WW2, the wagons were built using the planks available at the time and often a 'split' plank was inserted to make up the height when only narrower planks were available. Some of these '5 1/2' plank wagons could be modelled from this kit by scribing the extra joint line along the upper section of the wide plank to replicate a standard plank plus the inserted filler plank. However the extra plank was not always in this position.

Kits for the older GWR open wagons are available from the Peco and Slaters ranges and Parkside kit PS23.
