Horsebox vans were a common sight on Britains' railways until the 1960s. This model kit is the GWR design dating from the 1920s, with a grooms' compartment, large side doors to allow horses to be loaded and unloaded easily and a stowage compartment for fodder. Equipped with passenger type suspension, vacuum brakes and often steam heating these horseboxes would be conveyed by passenger trains on many branchlines and by secondary trains on the mainline. Long trains of horseboxes were also seen sometimes, especially when a major race meet or polo tournament was imminent!
300 of these vehicles were built in the 1920s, lasting into the 1950s and 60s. Transfers for GWR and BR.
Supplied with metal wheels and 3 link couplings.
