The second release of this model comes from the North East of England, as used by the joint Newcastle and Gateshead Fire Brigade, where it sported a unique colour scheme of dark crimson and red right into the 1970s. JVK 526D would have been seen working out of the two newly built 1960s fire stations on the West Road, Newcastle or out of Shipcote, Gateshead. Our model is based on the vehicle that was subsequently sold for restoration. The details of the original have been faithfully reproduced. You can see the finely detailed Fire Brigade crest incorporating both Newcastle and Gateshead, the city and town separated only by the River Tyne. Note too the colourful Merryweather badge on the radiator grille. Other refinements include a chrome bell and searchlight, cable reel on the offside, a control box with silver and white dials and fine white coach lines to the bright red skirt, mudguards and locker doors.
