Navis Neptun 1/1250 1130 HMS Exeter the Royal Navy's famous but ill fated heavy cruiser

HMS Exeter by Neptun 1130 is a second-hand, 1/1250th scale, metal model in excellent condition, see photograph.

 Exeter was famous for her presence at the Battle of the River Plate. Although badly knocked about herself, her 8" shells caused significant damage to the Graf Spee and determined the outcome of the battle. Subsequently, the refitted Exeter was sunk in the events around the Battle of the Java Sea. Navis Neptun have never made a model of Exeter post refit.

No further 8" gunned heavy cruisers were ever constructed for the Royal Navy. Large numbers of 6" guns were preferred because these provided a faster rate of smothering fire, so were fitted to subsequent large cruisers.

This model is in superb, as new condition, see photograph.She differs from her sistership, HMNZS Achilles (also in the Battle of the River Plate) in having twin 4"AA gun mountings, rather than the original single mounts fitted in Achilles. Almost all the Leander class were refitted with the heavier AA armament bu 1941.
