Navis Neptun 1/1250 1163 J/K Class British Destroyer 1939
J/K class Royal Navy Destroyer is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline metal model made by Navis Neptun, catalogue number 1163. The model is in excellent, original condition, see photograph.
Because the X-guns face forward, the model represents early ships of the J- and K-class in 1939-40. Later ships (and all the N-class) had these twin guns facing aft. Later in WW2, the aft set of torpedo tubes on most of the survivors was deleted in favour of a 4in AA gun, see number 1163A.
The J & K class destroyers were the most modern destroyers in the Royal Navy at the outbreak of WW2. Most of the N class destroyers were transferred to the Australian Navy for service against the powerful Japanese super destroyers.
