When Repulse joined the Grand Fleet, just after the Battle of Jutland, the navy was not happy with the thickness of her armour. The armoured belt off the battleship, Almirante Cochrane, building for Chile - later to become the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle, was added to bring Repulse up to standard. Sistership Renown was not altered until long after WW1 and she had a re-fit at the start of WW2 that changed her completely. Repulse had to continue as she was and she was sunk by Japanese aircraft before her outline was changed.
