Norfolk and Dorsetshire were the two ships of this batch of heavy cruisers and during WW2 they could be distinguised by a gunnery radar tower on Dorsetshire between the back of the bridge and foremast which she carried until sunk. Norfolk survived the War and became a six gunned ship during a 1944 refit following damage in the Battle of North Cape against Scharnhorst.

The large photograph of Norfolk is finished in the camouflage pattern that she wore in the Battle of North Cape in 1943 when Scharnhorst was sunk. Norfolk was badly damaged and spent 10 months in refit and returned to service as a six gun ship in November 1944.
