John's Model Shipyard RN321 HMS Exeter 1941 heavy cruiser Waterline Kit 1/1200
The HMS Exeter kit makes a 3D printed, 1/1200 scale, waterline model of the heavy cruiser as re-built after the Battle of the River Plate until her sinking by the Japanese in 1942. The kit is made by John's Model Shipyard, RN321, and as is usual for JMS warship kits, spare turrets are included with the kit.
Most waterline 1/1200 or 1/1250 scale ship models of HMS Exeter are of the ship when she took part in the Battle of the River Plate bur this kit has the augmented AA armament and different catapult arrangements given to the ship in 1840/41 and represents the ship from completion of the refit to her sinking by the Japanese.
Exeter was never re-painted in a camouflage pattern and she seems only to have carried a medium grey paint after her lengthy re-build from 1940-41. The wooden decks were not painted and steel decks were grey. That is how we have finished the demonstration model shown in the large photograph. Exeter could have carried up to two Walrus aircraft on the catapults but they are not supplied with this kit.
