John's Model Shipyard RN305 British Town-class WW2 Light cruiser square bridge waterline kit 1/1200
Sheffield, Newcastle, Sothampton and Glasgow in 1/1200 scale can be completed from this kit of a Town-class cruiser of WW2. The kit is a 3D resin print by John's Model Shipyard RN305.
For the record, HMS Birmingham had no knucle on the hull at the bow and the Batch 2 Town-class had rounded bridge fronts and these have not been produced as resin prints.
The completed model in the large image is HMS Sheffield in her 1942-43 camouflage scheme. The scheme was applied during her 1942 refit and the quarterdeckwas covered in tan corticene at this refit to reduce water ingress. The red lead paint on the foredeckwas unique to Sheffield but it is not known when it was first applied or when it was covered over with a more usual steel decking colour.
