John's Model Shipyard 1/1200 RN302 HMS Arethusa is a kit to make the light cruiser in WW2
HMS Arethusa is a resin, 3D-printed, waterline kit to make a model of the light cruiser during WW2. The model is designed, printed and packed in Britain by John's Model Shipyard, RN302. The kit needs glue, fine plastic or metal rod for topmasts and yards and paint to complete a good-looking model of the ship in the international ship recognition scale.
Arethusa in the large picture is a model made from this kit to represent Arethusa as she was disguised for the Lofoten Raid. The idea was to have Arethusa lead the group to land troops on the islands, so she was disguised as a German ship with a splinter style camouflage on the hull but with white instead of light grey so that she would be less visible in the poor light and typical misty weather when approaching the coastal defences but to appear as a German ship once she had been spotted. The recognition swasticas were applied to the decksĀ in case she was first detected by German aircraft.
