Almeria Lykes was designed as a large, fast, standard freighter designed before WW2 forUS shipping companies. She is a C3 type standard ship, so this kit can be used to make several different ships with only a change of livery. Here are some of the possibilities: Almeria Lykes which was re-named Empire Condor for 1941-42 but seems to have been given her old name back for the Pedestal Convoy in 1942 in which she was sunk (see defensively armed version MV306B). Howell Lykes (1940) which became Empire Pintail in 1941 but did not get her original name back until 1946. Kings Point of Sperling Steam Ship and trading Company, which became Flying Foam for Isbrandson Lines in 1946. Sea Hound (1940) which became Frederick Lykes (1940-65) and Harbor Hills (1941-71). Sea Panther (1940) became Doctor Lykes (1940-41) and USS Halmut, a Destroyer Depot Ship, from 1941-76. Some of these early C3s became Escort Carriers but that would be a big modelling project (eg USS Perdito and USS Wilpa).
