John's Model Shipyard 1/1200 MV305B Deucalion with Defensive Armament Waterline Kit
Deucalion, JMS MV305B, is a 3D-printed kit to make a 1/1200 scale, waterline model of this ship with the comprehensive armament fitted before she took part in the Pedestal Convoy during which she was sunk.
Most of the sister-ships of Deucalion survived WW2 and the following ships would have appeared in overall grey paint during WW2 including: Agamemnon, Ajax, Menestheus, Sarpedon and Glenlochy.
Modelling tips: When these ships were built, British registered ships were required to have wooden decks above passenger and crew accommodation, so they should be modelled with wood-coloured decks in those areas. In 1942, the MOWT required all ships to be painted grey if they were to be eligible for War Insurance underwritten by the British Government. Prior to that date, some ships wore black hulls with darkened upperworks and company colours and logos removed from funnels.
