John's Model Shipyard 1/1200 RN313 HMS Scylla, a Dido-class cruiser with 8x4.5in guns in kit form.
HMS Scylla is a 1/1200 scale kit of the AA cruiser made by John's Model Shipyard, RN313. This 3d-printed kit can be used to make her sister-ship, HMS Charybdis. Rod for topmasts, glue and paint are needed to complete a scale model from this kit.
Charybdis was sunk by two torpedoes from German torpedo boats, T23 and T27. Scylla ws damaged by a ground mine in 1944 and never fully repaired and scrapped in 1950.
The photo of a completed model has been painted as HMS Charybdis shortly before she was sunkThe 4in guns on these ships had a very rapid rate of fire compared to the 5.25in guns on the other Didos and the gun was able to intercept high-level bombers as they came over the horizon, so the AA ships were early candidates for long range radars at the mastheads and these radar aerials have been fitted to the model.
