A good model of the BR engineers' Tope open hopper style wagons used for conveying spoil and used ballast.
These wagons were converted from surplus 21-ton coal hopper wagons by cutting down the height of the body and usually sealing the hopper doorrs, the wagons being emptied using a mechanical digger or back hoe.
