Hornby OO R3870 NCB Peckett B2 Class 0-6-0ST 1203 of 1910 The Earl - Era 6
Peckett works number 1203 named The Earl was built in 1910 for the Nixon’s Navigation Coal Company and delivered to Deep Duffryn Colliery in Mountain Ash, South Wales. Opened in 1850 this colliery remained open until 1971. During the time No. 1203 was delivered the colliery employed over 1200 people and NCB Mountain Ash is well known as one of the last coal board locations to use steam locomotives, though many of the older engines including The Earl were replaced by Austerity saddle tanks and ex-GWR pannier tanks in the 1960s.
Peckett 1203 The Earl is modelled in NCB plain blue livery.
