It received its unusual name ‘An Commun Gaidhealach’ (The Gaelic Association) at Edinburgh in October 1986, before entering the Provincial General Pool from January 1989. It was renamed ‘Pectindae’ in April 1992, and then ‘East Lancashire Railway’ in April 1994, eventually being sold to a private owner in 2007 by EWS. It is currently on-hire to freight operator Loram Rail and painted in its livery, the ‘An Commun Gaidhealach’ name being reinstated in February 2024.
