Dundas Models OO9 DM28 4 Wheel Saloon Type Coach based of Glyn Valley Tramway Coaches
Plastic kit building a model of a saloon type 4 wheel coach with central door based on a coach operated by the Glyn Valley Tramway.
Kits are a good source for adding models not available ready-to-run. Narrow gauge lines often bought builders standard wagon designs, so this kit can easily be adapted for a fictitious narrow gauge line.
Plastic is easy to work, so kits can be built to model the original wagon they are base on or modified during construction to create a unique custom vehicle. A believable wagon fleet for a fictitious narrow gauge railway can easily be created using these kits of real wagons and vans. The final designs can easily be changed in detail, or by using parts from other kits.
For example the Tal-y-Llyn (and a couple of other lines) had platforms on one side only, so one side of this van could easily be replaced with plain paneling (eg plank embossed plastic sheet) and the second side used to supply extra parts to re-arrange the side doors and replace the lookout duckets. Combining parts from other kits can provide many other variations, like having a sliding door as used on the Welshpool line guards vans.
