Dapol O Gauge 7F-018-015W Shaka Salt Covered Salt Van 160 RCH 1887 Type Weathered

Based on the RCH 1887 specification open wagon a simple ridged roof was added to provide weather protection for loads likely to be damaged by rain etc. Due to their specialist cargoes and construction these vans were not taken into the pooling arrangements and remained privately owned at nationalisation. These were among the few private owner wagons seen on British Railways in the 1950s and 60s.
Salt wagons used by suppliers of granular salt for domestic consumption usually advertised the best-known trade name of their owners.
This wagon is finished in the blue livery of Shaka Salt as wagon number 160 with a weathered finish.
