LB&SCR 71 Wapping was completed in September 1872, working for the Brighton line until circa 1900 when the engine was hired out for the construction of the Sheppey Light Railway. In 1905 carrying the later number 671 the engine was sold to the Rother Valley Railway, later the Kent & East Sussex Railway becoming their locomotive number 5 Rolvenden. By 1932 the engine was thoroughly worn out and withdrawn from service, though not scrapped until 1938.
The Kent & East Sussex Railway was regularly worked using Terrier locomotives until closure and today as a heritage line is home for two of the class.
