Dapol N 2D-004-013 EWS 56059 Class 56 Doncaster Built Batch EWS Maroon & Gold
A highly detailed model of the BR class 56 diesel locomotives which marked the 'second generation' of diesel traction for freight train haulage, replacing earlier diesels. Fitted with Ruston engines and Brush electrical machines to obtain a rapid delivery the first batch were built by Electroputere of Romania with later batches built at BRs own Crewe and Doncaster works.
Dapols' model of the 56 is designed to replicate many of the detail changes between batches, the most noticeable being the changes to the front grille and marker lights. Inside the bodyshell is a diecast chassis housing a centrally mounted 5-pole motor driving both bogies. A 6-pin DCC decoder socket is fitted to the circuit board which also controls the directional lighting.
Model finished as EWS 56059, a Doncaster built locomotive in the EWS maroon and gold livery.
