Coastlines 1/1250 CL-BS01 N3 Battleship Design Project in1939 Home Fleet dark grey
The N3 battleship design was accepted by the Royal Navy for production after the end of the first world war. This 1/1250 scale, waterline, resin model has been has been made to the design that was presented to the Washington Conference in 1921/22. These battleships were designed with 9x18" guns mounted in three triple turrets and were the battleship equivalent of the G3 battlecruisers.
In the event, the Washington Conference report of 1922 refused to allow anyone to build battleships with such large guns but Britain was allowed to build two Nelson-class ships which were shortened versions of the N3 desin, fitted with 9x16" guns in triple turrets which were building for the G3 battlecruisers providing that they were built to the 35,000 ton limit of the Treaty report.
The Home Fleet dark grey would not have been applied to these ships when new but the Royal Navy re-introduced the dark grey shortly before the outbreak of WW2 on ships that were attached to the Home Fleet.
