This schooner was built in 1965 at the Richard Dunston Ltd. (Hessle, Yorks), for the Sail Training Association in Bosham. The 'Sir Winston Churchill' is equipped with a 240bhp engine to assist with manoeuvering in harbour and has a total sail area of 817sqm. The regular crew consists of 11 men, including 8 officers, and up to 44 trainees can be accommodated.
The kit includes all parts to construct a traditional plank on frame hull, with laser cut wooden parts for strengthening purposes Plastic and meal fittings of a high quality are provided and the instruction booklet is very detailed, dealing with every step of construction.
