Bachmann OO 32-289 BR Class 101 2 Car Diesel Multiple Unit DMU Refurbished White & Blue Livery

The Metropolitan-Cammel class 101 DMU trains were developed from some of the earliest experimental light-weight units and had long service lives, being among the last types to be withdrawn. During the early 1980s, after over 20 years in service, BR recognised that the DMU trains were becoming very shabby and units which were planned to be retained in service for another 10 years or more required a through facelift. A refurbishing scheme was devised, addressing many recurring maintenance faults which had been discovered as the trains aged and fitting a complete new interior to enhance the passenger environment. Refurbished trains were given a new livery, replacing the austere overall blue with bright white, relieved with a broad blue stripe below the window line.
