A highly detailed model of the Churchward City class double framed 4-4-0 locomotives from the early years of the 20th century. The class was made famous by the exploits of one member, 3440/3717 City of Truro, the first British locomotive to achieve a speed of 100 mph while hauling an express mail train between Plymouth and Bristol.
Bachmanns' model of the City class locomotives was first produced as City of Truro for the National Railway Museum. This locomotive was extensively examined to produce a finely detailed model, the starting point for model of other members of the class.
