Bachmann EFE Rail OO E85005 LMR 195 Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST Saddle Tank Shunting Engine 0-6-0T Tank Army Lined Blue
The Hunslet 'Austerity' 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotives were ordered by the Ministry of Supply during WW2 as a standard heavy shunting engine. Hunslet based the design on shunting engines they had built for the steel industry in the late 1930s. They were simple, robust and powerful engines, well suited to heavy shunting tasks, with wheels large enough for local goods service.
After WW2 a number of these engines were retained by the British Army for shunting in their depots. This model is finished in lined blue livery as number 195 working on the Longmoor Military Railway in Hampshire.
