EFE Rail OO E85003 NCB 19 Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST Saddle Tank Shunting Engine Blue & Yellow

The Hunslet 'Austerity' 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotives were ordered by the Ministry of Supply during WW2 as a standard heavy shunting engine. Hunslet based the design on shunting engines they had built for the steel industry in the late 1930s. They were simple, robust and powerful engines, well suited to heavy shunting tasks, with wheels large enough for local goods service.
Many of these engines were purchased by the coal, iron and steel industries to replace much older locomotives and continued to serve into the 1970s.
This model replicates NCB locomotive 19 finished in a combination of NCB blue and high visibility yellow.
