One of the GWR's modern shunting pannier tanks of the later 8750 class, built from the late 1930's onwards. The Bachmann model captures the look of these popular tank engines whose steaming capacity and smooth riding enabled them to undertake heavy shunting duties or handle pick-up goods trains along the mainlines.
Model of GWR 3738 finished in wartime plain black livery.

Built at Swindon in 1937 number 3738 is now preserved at the Great Western Society Didcot locomotive shed. The plain black livery was applied to many GWR locomotives overhauled during WW2 as an economy measure. 3738 has been painted in this livery in preservation, though may well have received it originally circa 1944 when the 1937 built engine would have been due for a works overhaul.
